Welcome to episode 16 of Komplekt on Design podcast. We are pleased to have as our interlocutor Boril Karaivanov, who we associate with the initiative "For the Bulgarian Cyrillic", the only festival of its kind in the country for calligraphy, type design and typography - Typofest, the Typoclass trainings and the regular meetings with typographers and graphic designers Typoclub.

By education Boril is a book artist, a graduate of the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. He develops mostly in the field of graphic design, advertising, internet and type design. He has been involved in the realisation of landmark projects for the development of the Bulgarian web, such as the website of the Bulgarian National Television, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Superhosting, BG Maps and many others. In 2011, he became involved in corporate business and founded his own graphic design studio Redesign.

As one of the leading specialists behind "For Bulgarian Cyrillic", Boril is a supporter of the series of landmark exhibitions dedicated to the new Bulgarian typography, author of numerous publications, active lecturer and presenter of trainings at events and educational institutions, he is also involved in a number of other public initiatives. In his portfolio, his activities as an organizer and jury of some of the leading design competitions of national and international significance in recent times are noteworthy. It can be said that thanks to him, many of the visual identity, logo and typeface competitions in the country have gained weight and have shown a clear system for judging and subsequently implementing the winning project.
