In episode 15* we are with Rozalina Burkova, who we boldly and without any hesitation call one of the most successful and talented contemporary Bulgarian illustrators. Rozalina works as a freelance artist and illustrator between Barcelona and Sofia, and her impressive portfolio includes clients such as The New York Times, Tate Modern, Washington Post, Gucci, Obama Foundation, NBC, Liberty's, Human Rights Watch and many more. Her professional path began at Central Saint Martins College in London, where she graduated with a degree in Fashion, but as a student she turned to painting and made it her profession.

Among her biggest creative successes was a full layout for The New York Times Book Review in December 2022 and being named one of the medium's most memorable illustrations for 2023. Collaborations with The New York Times began a few years earlier when an art director invited her to illustrate an article with tips for coping with stress during the pandemic with funny gifs.

Her work over the years has included diverse projects in advertising, media, product and packaging design, directing and animating music videos for international artists. The unifying thread in all of her disparate pursuits is a visual language that could not be mistaken - vibrant, dynamic, surprising and exhilarating, her illustrations often declare a rebellion against the status quo.

We spend a conversation between Sofia and Barcelona in fascinating stories about the journey from fashion design to drawing and juggling personal and professional life with one of the truly original characters in the visual sphere.
