Ice Cream Crush – Katerina Serbezova
On the occasion of the group exhibition Ice Cream Crush* with jewellery created by ten Bulgarian designers presented at Munich Jewellery Week 2017, we introduce you to the participants:
On the style of your work:
All my designs are like an intuitive play with different materials and forms. I want people to recognise the materials of the objects, but also to feel the emotion, the memory and the hidden desire that is behind them. I thrive to excite and I think I’m successful in it.
Share an aspect of your project you are particularly proud of:
Trained as an architect it was a challenge for me to take a material like concrete and to manage to work with it and make very small and delicate forms оut of it. By creating details out of concrete, I succeeded to keep the material’s character.
Preferred materials of work:
I don’t have any specific preferences. I like to work with different materials. My choice depends mostly on the project I’m working on. Betoniño are small architectural jewellery pieces and like in architecture it is important to use a material, which allows sustainabilty, harmony and space.
Favourite design object or concept jeweller:
I like everything , which is simple and functional and can be worn everyday, but also on special occasions.
Professional related expectations from Munich Jewellery Week 2017:
Frankly I don’t know what to expect, but for sure it is a step forward in my career.
